We know climate is changing and fish are moving in response to those changes. But we understand less about how harvesters are responding to these changes in fish distribution, and the ramifications of those changes for fishing communities.  I have worked with a group of multidisciplinary researchers – including the “Shifting fish and shifting fishers” graduate student working group at the Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC), and the “Adaptations of fish and fishing communities to rapid climate change” Coastal SEES group at Rutgers – to better understand changes in fishing patterns among commercial fishing communities in the northeast US in the context of climate change.
